WELCOME to 2009
First of all I'd like to apologies to all the members for not keeping the news section up to date. Hopefully I can get this back on tracks, and make it an enjoyable reading for all those who view the website. I do try my utmost best to cover all the latest golfing news and the events during TDGS Winter and Stableford League. If I have miss any members stories, it maybe due to the fact I am unaware of what has happened during the course of play, as I have only two eyes to keep an open eye on the latest! If you wish to add anything to the news, please text/email and I'll add it on.
As the 2009 season gets underway, we have a fantastic increase in membership, new format of handicap system for both winter and stableford, revised stableford league and a new look website layout. The membership see an additional England golfer and female joining the society, and new members taking up the opportunity to join.
All eyes will be on the defending champions, Phil Mottram (Winter Champion) and Stephen Foster (Stableford Champion), to defend their title, this could prove to be a tough year with many challenging for the winning trophies.
The newly format handicap system is based on the golf software recorder, which was used during the 2008 season to monitor the players handicap to compare with the old and new format. As it was agreed at the AGM (Nov 2008) to use this software to award the players their handicap per game, at present applies to stableford league only, with a further 7/8th reduced from their handicap for the Winter Knockout.
The Winter Knockout 2009 is now underway, report will follow in due course.
The first Stableford League match is scheduled for 8th March, at Seaton Carew (TBC).
